How are we responding to COVID-19? Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of our members. We believe that sport is important for physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing. We are also conscious that there is widespread sickness in the Queensland community and we have legal and moral obligations to manage our activities as best we can to meet the needs of our members and the Gladstone community.
We appreciate your help in meeting the requirements under which we are allowed to operate and the measures we are all taking to try and minimise the impact of any health hazards.
What do we REQUIRE our members and visitors to do? In order to meet our obligations GVA are requiring all members and visitors to take the following steps:
Stay home - if you are feeling unwell or have any COVID-like symptoms
What do we ENCOURAGE our members and visitors to do? GVA encourages our members and visitors to take the following steps:
Wash hands regularly and practice good hygiene
Maintain a minimum of 1.5m distance at all times when not actively playing
Wear a mask if you cannot physically distance
Enter and exit via different doors, where possible
Enter and exit the hall promptly before and after your sessions
Follow directions given by Committee members and be respectful
Lets work together to look after ALL our members!
What else are we doing? As we try to navigate the 'new normal' we will endeavour to be flexible and proactive in meeting member needs. Committee members are regularly reviewing health directives and monitoring requirements for our club. We will try to keep you informed of any changes as soon as possible.
As we encourage members to stay home if they are unwell, if you find that your team cannot play due to illness please let the committee know. We do not want to penalise members for 'doing the right thing' so notify the committee as soon as you know that you are unable to field a team and we will ensure that normal forfeit rules are not applied and points will likely be shared for the match.
Committee members and others will be sanitising and cleaning commonly used equipment regularly. Feel free to give us a hand, we will appreciate it!
