Training is subject to hall and coaches' availability. Keep an eye on the GVA Facebook page for any late changes.
Who can come to training? Training is available during school term time for all GVA members, whether you are registered to play games in the social competition or not. There are 2 training sessions each week catering to different needs and members are welcome to attend one of these sessions.
In order to take the court for training you need:
to have current recreational level registration with Volleyball Queensland (VQ) - see link on 'Sign Up' page
to be a current financial member of GVA (either social competition or training only member - either is fine) - see link on 'Sign Up' page
to have comfortable sports clothes and closed in shoes
to listen & follow the instructions of the coach(es)
You do not need to inform anyone that you're coming ahead of time but please introduce yourself to the coach(es) when you get there, and make sure you sign-in on arrival.
Interested in coaching? GVA are looking for new and assistant coaches! If this might be you, keep reading!
All coaches and assistant coaches are required to hold a current Blue Card for working with children (or valid exemption), and comply with the GVA Child Safe Policies and Procedures before undertaking coaching activities.
You do not need previous volleyball coaching experience as we can provide hands-on training and resources to improve your skills and knowledge as you assist our coaches in supervising and running training sessions. If you would like to know more, catch Jack or Steve at the end of training and let them know you're interested! Alternatively - you can send an e-mail to the GVA committee (e-mail listed at the bottom of this page) or Facebook private message to the GVA account.
